The Sega Game gear is really just a suped up and portable Sega Master System and even has an adapter that allows you to play master system carts on this system. Before television went "Digital"; one could put on a television adapter and watch your favorite television station on the hand held console. One of the main limitation of this system was the fact it only had two fire buttons. I found that the games tend to be very basic and not as complicated as some of the other hand helds that were it's contempories for the time. It competed against the gameboy as well as the atari lynx systems
